Established in 1965, the Commonwealth Foundation is resourced by and reports to its 46 members, which are all governments of the Commonwealth. Its mandate is to promote democracy and good governance, respect for human rights and gender equality, sustainable development, as well as arts and culture.

Champollion was commissioned to work in conjunction with the Commonwealth Foundation on promoting the prestigious Commonwealth Writers’ Prize in 2010. Providing strategic guidance, communications support and media delivery, we devised media-friendly messaging to convey the values of the prize to an international audience, and generated a series of creative story ideas for all media outlets throughout the Commonwealth. This gave valuable profile to the prize and showcased a wide spectrum of talent by new and established writers.

Champollion has also trained the Commonwealth Foundation communications team in advanced skills of media management, practical and creative writing, along with corporate messaging and positioning. The aim has been to develop the Foundation’s capacity to promote its work around the globe.

“Since working with Champollion, we have been able to bring more focus and ambition to the PR side of our work. They are an incredibly driven organisation with an excellent team who really do go the extra mile to help us raise awareness about the work we do and ultimately achieve our objectives of working internationally towards development and democracy. Champollion are unlike any other PR organisation I have worked with, in that they totally believe in the work that they do and the projects they take on.”

Marcie Shaoul, Communication Manager, Commonwealth Foundation
