A for-profit employment agency based in New York, America Works has for almost a
quarter of a century helped up to 2,000 people a year shift from welfare into work.
Commissioned by both public authorities and private companies, but paid only if and
when results are achieved, it reaches disadvantaged groups like the long-term unemployed
and former prisoners, puts them in touch with prospective employers, and then coaches
them in how to apply for and hold down jobs.
Champollion was commissioned to help
introduce America Works to British audiences: the media, opinion-formers and budget-holders. America
Works has since successfully established a fully functioning office on this side
of the Atlantic.
